Each phase should earn the next one.

Graphene projects become expensive when material, formulation, processing, and testing all change at once. We try to answer the smallest useful question first, then add complexity only when the result justifies it.

1. Define the decision

Start with the product that already exists. What is not working well enough? What already works and must be preserved? What result would be large enough to matter?

What earns the next step: a specific problem that graphene can be tested against.

2. Build a fair comparison

The current formulation, unmodified material, or other appropriate reference becomes the baseline. Then we change as little as possible so the result can be interpreted.

What earns the next step: a control and test plan capable of showing whether the graphene variable moved the result.

3. Choose the first material and loading range

If current Magnolia Ridge GNP is a sensible starting point, begin there. If the host system gives a clear reason to change the graphene's behavior, a modified or functionalized material may make more sense.

The first loading range should be wide enough to show direction without overwhelming processing, cost, or interpretation. If the material cannot be incorporated consistently, mixing or compatibility becomes the first problem to solve.

4. Measure the gain and the trade-offs

Test the property the project is trying to improve and the properties that must stay acceptable. A stronger plastic that becomes too brittle is not necessarily better. A coating that gains one property but becomes difficult to apply may not be useful.

5. Repeat, change, advance, or stop

A promising result should survive repetition before it becomes a claim. A mixed result should tell us what variable to change. A weak result can save money by ending the project early. Larger batches, outside validation, manufacturing work, and scale-up make sense only after the application has earned them.

What earns a larger program: a result strong and repeatable enough to justify more time and money.
